Not an Ugly Duckling but a Beautiful Cygnet


BEAUTIFUL intentions and good gestures does not always guarantee acceptance from people. Sometimes things go south no matter what we do.



So, you have the feeling that you dont belong? You are trying your best to blend in but its just so difficult. Everyone is different....or maybe you are different.



With so much memories I have with my mom, one of the fondest I can vividly remember is the bed time story that she would always tell to my younger sister. The story is about the ugly duckling.  As my mom would narrate the story, this ugly duckling is having difficulty with her siblings and friends.  She is ugly and different, at least from their perspective.  She is being teased and sidelined all the time.  They put her down and she lost all her confidence in life.  



As they are growing up, this ugly duckling is becoming different than the rest of her siblings and peers.  Her ugly feathers are developing quite well and her neck is getting longer.  As the time passed by, her features become significantly different and eventually her real identity becomes known and apparent.  She is not a duck, she is a very beautiful swan.  Then she flew from her place to find her real world and found the flock of beautiful swans like her. She was welcomed as their own.  She easily mingled on with her kind effortlessly and she flew with them in the sky. The ducklings that used to tease her are now grown ducks and they marvelled and in awe at the beauty of this once ugly duckling as she flies above the sky....as a beautiful swan.



Now, sometimes people see us differently and they dont understand what we are. They put us down, criticized us or sidelined us because we are not like them.  Even though we try so hard to blend in, we are never accepted and our traits, character and mind-set is just different from everyone around us.  




Be encouraged, be strong.  You are not alone.  Whenever you feel this way, stop and think, maybe you are different from everyone else around you. Maybe the reason why you're not accepted because you belong somewhere else.  Maybe you are the ugly duckling in their eyes but in reality, you are a cygnet that will become a beautiful swan.  You need to find where you belong.... that is to the bevy of beautiful swan.  After all, the birds of the same feather flock together.  So when things go south with people around you, its the cue for you to find your kind. Join the wedge in flight, the group of swan who can fly high in the sky.

A Love Story

One day, she woke up wondering. She woke up wondering why he suddenly stopped pursuing her. He stopped chasing. He was not as persistent as he used to be. She knew that there was something there before that isn't there anymore. The addictive, fun, engrossing long talks that used to keep her up all night turned into boring conversation.  The giggles turned into fake laughter and most of the time, silence. Sunset Story

“When you look at this picture, what do you see?”, asked a middle-aged man.  I was surprised when he approached me and asked me this question out of the blue.  Before I looked at the picture, I stared at him.  He seemed familiar but I cant recall where I saw him.  Maybe I met him somewhere, maybe an old friend, an acquaintance or something.  He caught me off-guard with his friendly smile, meek appearance yet full of wisdom.  He looks ordinary, wearing jeans and a shirt but he seems not from this place. He is different from everyone else around me, or at least  my vibes would tell me so.
