Not an Ugly Duckling but a Beautiful Cygnet

Image
BEAUTIFUL intentions and good gestures does not always guarantee acceptance from people. Sometimes things go south no matter what we do. S o, you have the feeling that you dont belong? You are trying your best to blend in but its just so difficult. Everyone is different....or maybe you are different. W ith so much memories I have with my mom, one of the fondest I can vividly remember is the bed time story that she would always tell to my younger sister. The story is about the ugly duckling.  As my mom would narrate the story, this ugly duckling is having difficulty with her siblings and friends.  She is ugly and different, at least from their perspective.  She is being teased and sidelined all the time.  They put her down and she lost all her confidence in life.   A s they are growing up, this ugly duckling is becoming different than the rest of her siblings and peers.  Her ugly feathers are developing quite well and her neck...

Excellence is Not an Act

Image
D id you ever excel on some things but fail miserably in other things? If you do, then you are just acting.  Congratulation! You just discovered that you are an actor or actress and you’re good at it.  You take the role of that field where you excel and your acting on it quite fairly.  As long as you keep your position where you’re good at, then you deserve to be recognized as a great artist, a star in that field. H owever, excellence is not an act, it is a habit.  People are getting in the wrong notion that succeeding in certain area of their lives makes them successful and yet they fail miserably in other things.  This is the reason why a lot of so-called successful people are in depression or into drugs or living a double lives because they may have excelled in their profession or career and yet they lost their quest mostly in the most important things in their lives. R eal successful people excel in almost every area they put their hands int...

Image
T he old year has just passed and a new year is here and we are all excited about the prospect of this new year will bring.  Different people with different cultural backgrounds are all in one celebrating the new leaf in their tree of life, turning another page in the their book of life.  Everyone has high hopes that this year would be better than last year.  Those who have a bad year are looking forward for a reverse in their fortune while those who had a great year are betting that this year will be better even more. H aving hope is a beautiful thing.  The absence of hope brings anxiety, depression and lose of direction.  Hopelessness is the worst thing that could happen to anyone.  It is worst than death itself.  Anticipation and expectations of good things gives us focus and sense of direction.  There is a plan.  There is a goal.  It makes us excited and this feeling brings joy and laughter to everyone.  It is contagiou...

Image
So you’ve just turned 30 or you’re about to be 30. You must be very excited what life has in store for you as you are entering this new phase of adulthood--- saying goodbye to your 20’s and saying hello to your three decades of existence, cheers! So here’s my own version of 30-something must haves. 1.         Journal. Well, this isn’t new. I can still remember one of colleagues laughed at me when he saw me writing on my journal. He couldn’t believe I still keep “diary” these days. And I told him I couldn’t believe he doesn’t have one. I actually have three journals. The first book is for my schedule, bills and expenses that’s why I call it “Secretary”. The second journal is my day-to-day thoughts and I call it “Highlights”. This is where I actually reflect on what happened throughout the day. The last journal I keep is “Live the Dream” journal. This is where I actually put on my vision board, positive declarations that I actually recite in the morning ...
